STEPS TO A NEW LIFE IN CHRIST
Confess that you are a sinner
Believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins
Repent (turn away from sin and towards Jesus)
Ask God to forgive your sins
Receive Jesus as your personal lord and savior
Step 1. Confess that you are a sinner. In the book of Romans it says that we
have all fallen short of the glory of God. We are all sinners. The apostle Paul
even admits that he is the chief of sinners. We cannot enter heaven if we are
in sin. God cannot look upon sin. In the Old Testament a price had to be paid
for the remission of sin. A blood sacrifice had to be made. A lamb without
blemish was the price that had to be paid. Jesus was that lamb who paid the
price for you and me.
Step 2. Believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins. Jesus paid
the price once and for all. When Jesus hung on the cross and said it is
finished, that is what He meant. It is finished. I have paid the price for you.
My blood will cover you. God cannot look upon our sins but he can look upon
the blood of His Son that covers us.
Step 3. Repent. Jesus told the woman caught in adultery to go and sin no
more. We cannot just make a decision and not be changed. If your heart has
truly been changed then you will not want to sin any more. Don’t get me
wrong, we cannot be perfect. We will still sin. The difference is that the blood
of Jesus will cover it if we ask God to forgive.
Step 4. Ask God to forgive your sins. As a believer when we ask God to
forgive our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse
us from all unrighteousness. We are justified by the blood of Jesus. When we
go before God with our sins and confess them, He throws them into the sea of
forgetfulness.
Step 5. Receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior
We need to realize that Jesus is the only way to get to heaven. Jesus says I
am The way, The truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except
through Me. Bottom line is Jesus is the only way.
Remember that God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son
that whoever believes in Him shall not parish but have everlasting Life. Jesus
paid the price you and I could not pay. Jesus was the lamb without blemish.
He was the only man without sin. Only Jesus could pay the price. It is only
through the blood of Jesus that we are justified.
